Weobley Theatre Group

The Weobley Theatre Goers started in July 2005, since when we have gone to 8 or 9 productions a year. These are usually trips to Malvern, but also to Birmingham, Cardiff or Cheltenham. You can dip in and out of the trips as you like; the cost of the coach is included in the price and, for trips other than Malvern, there is time to look around the city centres or shop before going to the theatre. And speaking of shops, we occasionally have a shopping trip in the autumn which is a good opportunity to get ahead of Christmas.

Everyone is welcome. For information look at the Weobley Website or in Magpie, the Weobley magazine or ring Kate Best 01544 318513.

Thursday 19th October

I have reserved seats for War Horse, which we are going to on request of one of our Theatre Goers, who has already seen it and wants to go again. We went before in October 2013, but I am sure there are some of you who didn’t get to see it – or like me would like to see it again. It is on its final tour after leaving the West End.   Bristol Hippodrome is the nearest of its touring theatres to us with seats again in the circle and the stalls.

I couldn’t resist reserving seats for Cilla, the Musical.  This is a heart-warming musical adaptation of the critically-acclaimed ITV mini-series based on the early life of Cilla Black. The story follows the extraordinary life of an ordinary teenage girl from Liverpool and her rocky, yet incredible, rise to fame. The musical score is the ultimate soundtrack to the 60s including Cilla’s greatest hits Anyone Who Had a Heart, Alfie and Something Tells Me, alongside a backdrop of the legendary “Liverpool Sound”  including the Beatles’ Twist and Shout, American influences like California Dreamin’ by the Mamas and the Papas and many more.

We shall be going to the Bristol Hippodrome on Thursday 15 March 2018 for the 2.30pm production, leaving Bell Square, Weobley at 10.00, allowing a good two hours for lunch when we get there. Tickets will be £46 and these are in rows FGH of the stalls (to the right) or rows C and D in the Circle – please state your preference when reserving your seats. To be paid before 4 October please and, as usual, within 2 weeks of reserving your tickets.
